Ladies Hair - an introduction
As we are all aware, there are a few differences between men and women - other than the obvious! Men and women tend to like different scents, colour schemes, tastes and styles. After all, opposites do attract! However, there are some really important things to bear in mind as a Lady which may come as a real surprise to you when considering colours and other chemical services. Firstly your chemical makeup changes through the month, due to your menstrual cycle, and due to this, sometimes chemical services can take longer due to your hormones making your hair more resistant to chemicals.
The same is to be said when pregnant, your hormonal balance will obviously change greatly, and due to this you hair will change as well. Depending on the individual, the hair could become more resistant, less resistant, thicker or finer. Either way, as a hairdresser, I can guarantee that these are all perfectly normal things to happen. However, you should know that when chemically treating your hair while pregnant, although there is no evidence of harm to your baby, there is a risk of some adverse effects on your own hair including longer development, transparent colour, faster lifting times with ultra-lift powders and perms not taking correctly.
Again, this is a perfectly natural and normal thing to happen when pregnant or due on, so if you know your general cycle patterns and want colours doing, try to get them done in the 2 week slot between your last period and when you're next due. This will ensure that the process is as perfect as possible for you, and your colours are truer to the colour you want.
